Thai Telephone Agency Won't Give Company New Mobile Numbers.

Apr. 6--The Telephone Organisation of Thailand has rejected DTAC's request for five million new mobile numbers, apparently in retaliation for the latter's failure to pay overdue access charges.

Total Access Communication had sought the new numbers early this year to cope with the surge in subscriptions to its pre-paid service.

However, the company has been in conflict with the TOT over access charges, which DTAC stopped paying in November, claiming the charges were illegal under the new telecom services law.

At 200 baht per number per month, the company's bill now exceeds two billion baht.
