SA: Boy in box couple receive extra three years jail
An Adelaide couple jailed in Queensland for torturing a three-year-old boy have hadthree years added to their sentences after pleading guilty to two armed robberies in SouthAustralia.
JASON LEE STOKES and MICHELLE ANN ROBINSON were already serving 11-year sentences fortheir actions in what became known as the boy in the box case.
In that case, a Queensland district court was told that over a two-week period, theboy, who cannot be named, was subjected to 100 cigarette burns.
Other tortures included having his leg broken and life-threatening injuries inflictedto his head.
The boy was often gagged, put in a bloodied box and kept in a cupboard in a caravan.
But today, in the South Australian District Court, Judge NEIL LOWRIE said 28-year-oldROBINSON and STOKES, aged 27, had good prospects for rehabilitation.
They'll be eligible for release in 2009.
