Fed: ACT/NSW road initiative to tackle dangerous road users
New South Wales and ACT police have joined forces in a three-day traffic offensiveto tackle irresponsible road users.
The operation will focus particularly on drink and drug driving, speeding, failureto wear seat belts, inattentive driving and awareness of vulnerable road users.
Vehicle inspectors will also conduct roadworthiness checks on vehicles coming in andout of the ACT.
Federal Police superintendent ROB GILLILAND says they want to send a message that policewon't tolerate driving that puts others at risk.
Superintendent GILLILAND says visiting interstate drivers will also be given a flyerat the border outlining the ACT's key road rules as well as crime prevention and vehiclesecurity tips.
The offensive starts on January 2 and runs through until January 4.
