QLD:Man's feet crushed by cane train
BRISBANE, Aug 2 AAP - A man suffered horrific injuries to his feet when he was run
over by a sugarcane train in north Queensland.
The man also lost a finger in the accident, which happened after some wagons from the
train become unhitched from the engine on Saturday night.
The runaway carriages hit the back of the train when the crew stopped for a break,
and the man's feet were crushed under the wheels, police said.
The Department of Community Safety said the incident happened at Kelsey Creek, near
Proserpine, on Saturday night.
Ambulance crews who treated the 45-year-old said he suffered "open fractures to both
feet" and a severed finger and was taken to Proserpine hospital.
